Pura Vida Costa Rica!

My family and I returned late last night from our first time traveling to Costa Rica!  We ziplined, rode ATV's, and went horseback riding, we went tubing and hiked to a hidden waterfall only accessible by swimming, we walked through the rainforest to volcanic hot springs of different temperatures, we paddle boarded and collected shells on the beach, and on our last day while swimming in our hotel pool, we lucked out and watched a dozen monkeys swing past us in the treetops above!

But most of all, we learned the true meaning of the term, "Pura Vida."

On the surface, Pura Vida translates to "pure life," and you hear it everywhere because Costa Ricans respond with "Pura Vida" often in place of good morning and hello or thank you and your welcome.  But once we really got to know our friendly hotel staff or tour guides, we learned that Pura Vida has such a deeper meaning for local Costa Ricans.

It stands for their love, gratitude, and connection to their country, their culture, and their people.
It stands for respecting nature, wildlife, and water.
It stands for slowing down and appreciating this beautiful world and the gift of life.

May your week ahead be filled with Pura Vida!

Love,
Grace
