Only ONE Dance Class Left Before Spring Break!

April 4, 2022

April 4, 2022

Dear Friends,

Not gonna lie, the past 10 days or so have been ROUGH. Planning a retreat and then having it cancelled just 3 days before departure brought back all the emotionsI've endured over the past 2 years due to the pandemic, specifically, that punch-in-the-gut feeling. Cancelling my dance-a-thon.

Watching screens freeze on Zoom.
Unsuccessfully syncing music to video.
Getting sound complaints from neighbors.
Dancing in the rain, literally.
Searching for any place to teach.
Not having enough internet speed.
Enforcing masks in a high cardio class.
Keeping six feet apart from others.
Not seeing smiles.
Feeling like a disappointment.
Pivoting, always pivoting.

So to have this retreat not happen was a difficult reminder again, that nothing is ever in our control. And for me, that showed up as sleepless nights, stress, and uncontrollable tears this past week and a half.

Thank you to Debby and Laura for inspiring the quote above,
"I will get out of bed for dance."   TRUTH.

Made For NOW

But there are two sides to every situation, and what may have been a retreat that did not happen, also showed up as:Erin attending her mother's funeral service.

Jessica accompanying Erin to the funeral.
Catherine saying goodbye to her grandmother.
Katie spending time with her sister.
Allyson flying back home to New York.
Susan taking her daughter to visit colleges.
Marti meeting Karen in the East Coast.
Alison and Shel vacationing in Morro Bay.
Wendy getting away with family to Calistoga.
Jen, Sarah, Susannah, and Tanya taking yoga on-demand with me.
Anna comforting her daughter at home.
Karin buying a new Prius.
(and I'm sure many more silver linings from others that I don't know of!)

We may not be able to control the events that happen to us, but we can always look for the silver linings.

Thank you to Gina, for sharing her vacation playlist, and inspiring our newest dance choreography to Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee's song, "Made For Now," a song that reminds us to live fully in the present.
