Dear Friends,
Step-By-Step Choreo Class Saturday!
First, it was Angela Hart.
Then, it was Gina Daly.
Finally, it was Laura Briggs.
Three of our PWG members DM'd me over the past few weeks with a video clip of a dance routine to the 2010 song by Robyn, "Dancing On My Own," featured in Netflix's summer rom-com blockbuster, "Voicemails For Isabelle." They all wanted me to teach the dance to our community, so... it's happening!
Join our special "Dancing On My Own" step-by-step choreography class this Saturday, August 22nd during our usual 9:30am-10:30am time @UUMarin (240 Channing Way in San Rafael).
This class will NOT be our usual Stop Drop and Dance format. Instead, I will be breaking down the moves count by count, and we will be reviewing and practicing all the sections at a slow and comfortable pace. At the end, we'll perform the piece to one another in small groups! The routine is easy, short, and completely beginner-friendly, so no dance experience necessary! Invite your friends and sign up to join us!
One important note:
Please plan to arrive EARLY (9:20am) and carpool if possible!
1) UUMarin will be repainting the parking lot on Saturday, so you will be directed to park in slots at the bottom. Allow extra time to park and walk up the hill!
2) If you miss the beginning of the choreography class, it will be hard to catch-up with the rest of the group since we add on more and more moves!
3) We are following the dress theme in the movie! Wear JEANS AND A T-SHIRT, and comfortable sneakers to dance in!

More About UUMarin's Parking Lot
To those of you who come in-person to UUMarin, the board and staff of the church has asked that I forward this important message regarding this Saturday's repainting. Please take care when driving in the new lot (next next week)!
"As most of you know, the parking lot was patched this past Friday and then will be resealed on Friday August 21 and relined early the morning of Saturday August 22. All together this is a $32,000 project.
August 22 will be busy with Grace’s group there in the morning at 9:30, the OA group in Fireside also at 9:30, a board retreat at noon, and Marin AFG there with a big group in Fellowship Hall also beginning at noon. I will be there to direct traffic early to avoid any wet paint (although it dries quickly).
Both next Saturday, Sunday, and for several weeks thereafter, the surface will be tender and require care to drive on it while avoiding too many abrasions and tears such as you see in the photos above. Slow, careful driving while NOT turning the steering wheel while the car is at rest will really help maintain the new surface.
Thanks for everyone's cooperation."

An Update on Laura's Breast Cancer Journey...
Thank you to this beautiful community for all your prayers, thoughts, meals, gifts, and support for Laura Briggs these past few months.
Laura had a successful breast surgery at the end of June and was finally recovered enough to be able to come back to class for the first time this week on Tuesday. We were thrilled to dance with her again!
Next in Laura’s journey will be 4 weeks of radiation everyday, followed by medications, but everything looks good and she is on her way to conquering her breast cancer completely.
Please keep Laura in your prayers, and for those of you who are also going through a season of darkness and difficulty, know you are not alone in your journey.
You’ve got this.
"A good life isn't always an easy life. Some seasons of it you will thrive, some you will barely survive. Some seasons will be more difficult than others, filled with fear and doubts. Some seasons will go exactly the way you plan, while some will be filled with struggles and leave you with a broken heart. But through all the highs and lows of life -- you will learn to trust your strength, and you will grow stronger each time. Even if you feel like giving up at times, one day you will look back and find: despite everything that you had to go through, the journey was still worthwhile."
- Dhiman
Love,
Grace
