Dear Friends,

Happy Triple Birthdays to Sharon Mor, Keala Landry and Rita Ribera Channon!

Last year we celebrated Sharon, Keala and Rita's triple 50th birthdays and now we’re turning back time and counting backwards, so Happy 49ish ladies! These three gals rarely come up to dance, but on this occasion, they motivated each other to stay up front the whole time! Woohoo!

We all came to class dressed in black and gold clothing and Keala brought gold headbands, bracelets and scrunchies for everyone to wear! Thank you also to Erin Meyers for once again decorating for this fabulous dance party!

If I could turn back time...

Happy Birthdays to Leslie Dinham and Lorna Kirk!

We kicked off Memorial Day weekend last Saturday dancing for 75 minutes in "The Garage!"

Lorna came with one of her daughters to celebrate the start of her birthday weekend, and Leslie made the playlist! We showed up to class in our "Shine Your Light" tanks and we ended class with everyone dancing up front for "I Feel Like Dancing" by Jason Mraz!

Next Saturday, Leslie will be baking a delicious cake for everyone that comes to Suneela's "Just Health Fund"donation class! Come dance and enjoy her baking!

Mark your calendars:
Class cancelled on Saturday, June 8th!

My Own Drum

Those of you who have been taking my classes or reading these newsletters for awhile know my girls.  They are regulars in my dance classes, backup dancers at fundraisers, and they are my worker bees to set up and clean up.  Mostly because I didn't have a babysitter or a lot of help, my girls just had no choice but to come with me to my classes, and therefore they have been a part of this small business since the very beginning.

I think they are proof that when you just keep showing up and trying something, you naturally learn and improve!

Although my classes aren't formal training or technique, over time they have learned to:
- pick up choreography easily
- find the rhythm and beat of songs
- interact with people they don't know
- be free and expressive in their body
- bravely dance in front of others

AND

I am most proud of them for learning that making mistakes is not a big deal, but instead it is about being resilient and to keep trying!

Last Friday, my girls performed in a talent show for their school to "My Own Drum" from the animated "Vivo" movie.  Halfway through the performance, THE SONG STOPPED.  My heart stopped and I thought, "OH NO!" but you guys, I cannot express how proud I am of how they handled this pretty major music flop!

If you have 3 minutes, click on the image below (it is a private video link), turn up the volume, and watch their incredible display of resiliency.

When the music stops...
Dance to the beat of your own drum!

Love,

Grace
