We raised $912 for the California Nurse-Midwives Foundation!

Last Saturday, we celebrated Kathleen Dowd’s Birthday with a Great Gatsby themed Stop Drop and Dance fundraiser benefitting the California Nurse-Midwives Foundation!

Thank you to all the supporters who allowed us to raise $912 to help ensure that all individuals in California have access to midwifery care and improved reproductive and maternal health!

The Great Gatsby outfits worn by our in-person dancers were absolutely amazing and Kathleen also brought feather headpieces for everyone who attended!

Near the end of class, Kathleen shared more about her foundation, celebrated her dog, Kiki's birthday, and also shared that this fundraiser was in memory of her mother, Molly Dowd, who just passed a week ago. In attendance was also her daughter, nieces and close friends. We are so sorry for your loss Kathleen and send you all our love.

Thank you all for being a part of our dance family.

"You're glowing.

You color and fracture the light.

You can't help but shine.

And I know that,

You carry the world on your back,

But look at you tonight.

The lights, your face, your eyes,

Exploding like fireworks in the sky...

SAPPHIRE."

We have been introducing lots of fun new summer dances this month, from Ed Sheeran's "Sapphire" and "Azizam" to my Korea trip inspiration: Blackpink's "Jump," Aespa's "Dirty Work" and J-Hope's "Killin' It Girl."

This Saturday will also be a fun mix of Michael Franti's songs for those of you who will be attending his concert at Stern Grove on Sunday, as well as a few new Stop Drop and Dance routines inspired from Netflix's #1 Animated Movie, "K-Pop Demon Hunters!"

"We're goin' up, up, up
It's our moment
You know together we're glowing
Gonna be, gonna be golden!"

There are moments in the middle of teaching class, when I look at all of you dancing together... and I suddenly feel a powerful wave pour over me.

Beyond just exercise, beyond just music, beyond just a group of people...

I thank God for how lucky I am.

I embrace a mixture of awe.

A sprinkle of wonder.

A breath of life.

A glow.

Together, we really do shine golden.

Love,

Grace
