Dear Friends,

Hope Is Not Lost

Have you noticed how the Google homepage logo changes almost daily? There is actually a team of illustrators and engineers at Google that design fun logos to celebrate important events, holidays, or people, and occasionally they use drawings from the public too!

Monday's Google Doodle was illustrated by guest artist, Olivia Fields, and celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose work towards civil rights and racial equality 60 years ago, still continues today. The quote above by MLK Jr. is what inspired Olivia's design:

"I decided to focus on the visual of an arc to establish the movement in the piece. And everything moves, looks on, in the same direction....forward."

May we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with Olivia's inspiring drawing!

Let us be a community of individuals from all different backgrounds, supporting and connecting with one another, to carry out the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for social justice, equality, and peace.

Rainbows and Tutus

This past Thursday, we had the pleasure of celebrating Tiffany McElroy's birthday with a 75 minute playlist! Thank you to everyone who came out to dance with Tiffany!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18th from 9:30am-10:45am, we will be celebrating Michelle Sullivan's birthday!

Inspired by her photo below... let's wear rainbow colors and/or tutus!!!

Dance and Donate for MarinGIFT

This Saturday, January 22nd, will be our 2nd year hosting a fundraiser Stop Drop and Dance class for MarinGIFT (Give It Forward Today), in celebration of Sandy Aley's birthday!

MarinGIFT's mission is to provide compassionate care and critical services, including hot meals, supplies, clothing, community, shelter, and rehab, to the unsheltered of Marin County.

Last year around this time for her birthday, Sandy held a Stop Drop and Dance fundraiser thinking she could raise a few hundred dollars. Turns out, YOU all helped her raise a total of $2,550!!!

Please support Sandy and MarinGIFT again by dancing with us on Zoom or in-person on Saturday at "The Garage!"

If you cannot make class, a recording will be sent to all individuals who donate!  And even if you aren't interested in dancing, that's ok!  Any donations are very much appreciated!)

"A person can live...
40 days without food
4 days without water
4 minutes without oxygen
But nobody can live
1 second
Without Hope."

15 years ago, I spent a few evenings a week dancing with a ministry called Eight Count.  None of us were professional dancers - but we were all passionate about dancing for a bigger purpose.  It started with annual performances for Christmas and Easter, but eventually it evolved to performing at bigger events, competitions, and it even brought us to conferences in Hawaii and a dance missions trip to Kenya.

Last night, I randomly stumbled upon one of our old performances from 2007 at Micaya's Mission in the Mix show in San Francisco.  Only about half of our team could perform that day, so we scrambled to modify all our formations and make it work.  But we gave it our all and danced to share our message of hope.  Click here to watch!

We all have something to give.

Some of us are able to give more financially.
Some of us give our time.
Some of us give our knowledge.
Others, like myself, give a skill or craft.
Today, I encourage you to find your way to give.

When we all give from our heart,
we keep hope alive.

Love,
Grace
