Smile Through The Chaos

The past two weeks we hosted two fifth-grade girls from Taipei and it has been B.U.S.Y.  For those of you who raised or are raising FOUR kids, I commend you.  It was a lot of opinions, a lot of cultural differences, a lot of extra groceries and laundry, and since they were visiting, it was a lot of sightseeing and shopping that we would not normally be doing after school on a regular school day.

Truthfully, it was EXHAUSTING.

But, as we said goodbye this weekend and sent them off to the airport to return to their normal Taiwan lives, there were a lot of tears from everyone.  What an incredibly unique experience for my daughter to have had the opportunity to live in Taiwan for a week as a true local there, and for these two girls to be a part of our Chinese-American family.

I know they will always remember this exchange trip - sleeping in a bunk bed together, putting on fake nails with Rylee, eating In N Out and Krispy Kreme, shopping at Sephora, playing at Great Wolf Lodge, watching Zaydee's Rock Band performance and Flag Football games, and experiencing normal school life and going on field trips!  We are all grateful.

"No matter what you're going through - joy or pain, success or struggle - remember, life itself is a gift.

Not every day will be perfect.  Some days will test you, others will bless you.  But EVERYDAY TEACHES YOU.

Celebrate the small wins.  Dance in the rain.  Smile through the chaos.  Laugh even when things don't go as planned.  Because one day, you'll look back and realize that it was all part of the beautiful journey.

Choose to celebrate life - not just when it's easy, but especially when it's hard.

You're alive.  That's your biggest power.  Make it count."

Love,

Grace
