Breast Cancer Fundraiser this Saturday!

October 9, 2023

October 9, 2023

Dear Friends,

Wear PINK and dance for breast cancer awareness month!

We are so excited to Stop Drop and Dance for the 4th year in a row for B4BC, Boarding for Breast Cancer, on Saturday, October 14th from 9:30am-10:45am! Over the years, our community has raised over $13,000 for B4BC to help promote early detection, healthy lifestyles and support for breast cancer survivors! Please help us continue to lift up this impactful non-profit organization!

With your donation, you can join our host, co-founder, and President of B4BC, Lisa Hudson, in-person at “The Garage” in San Rafael (1 Thorndale Drive) or join our Zoom online! Please wear 🎀 PINK 🎀 workout clothing and there will also be drinks sponsored by Suja!

If you cannot make class, all donors will receive the on demand link to class for the week after so you can take our class at your own convenience!

If you are a breast cancer survivor, please sign up to join us for FREE! We would be honored to have you! Please spread the word and invite other survivors who would love to dance for prevention and hope!

Sign up to dance for B4BC here!

A reminder about the UUMarin sewer project:

Just a heads up that our normal weekday UU Marin venue (240 Channing Way, San Rafael) will be updating their sewer system from today, October 9th, for two weeks until October 20th.

Our regular class schedule is still happening!

However, please be prepared to see some construction in the parking lot, and plan ahead to use the bathroom somewhere else before class! There will be a port-a-potty if you really need to use the restroom, but water inside the church will be turned off completely.

Thank you for your understanding!

Join us TOMORROW for Kim Lewis' SOLID GOLD 50th Birthday Class!

Go through your closets and find anything you have that is metallic GOLD that you can dance in tomorrow!  We are celebrating Kim Lewis' 50th birthday at UUMarin (240 Channing Way in San Rafael) and we hope you can join us!

We'll be dancing for 75 minutes from 9:30am-10:45am and then everyone is welcome to bring a snack to share and join us for a "top of the hill" community hangout outside the church!  These are great opportunities to get to know everyone a tiny bit better so please join us if you're free!

Happy Birthday Erinn Lance!

We’re flashing some jazz hands at the end of Tuesday morning’s 75 minute Stop Drop and Dance birthday class for Erinn Lance because she brought back a ton of our original songs like “Celebration,” “We Are Family” and “Jump (For My Love)!”

Thank you to friends like Catherine Granville for sharing that it was Erinn’s birthday and thank you to Erinn for saying YES to letting us celebrate her birthday and for dancing up front the entire time!

Happy Triple Birthday Pam Flores, Wendy Wilkinson and Melissa Irish!

Last Thursday we planned to celebrate a joint 75 minute Stop Drop and Dance birthday class for Pam Flores, who is the owner of Stretchlab Greenbrae, and Wendy Wilkinson, who is a beloved local yoga instructor, and they both picked the playlist and matched up on 2 songs, which we started and ended class with, “Shut Down” and “Robot!”

After the first few songs, Melissa Irish, who came to our Tulum retreat last year, showed up in class and we hadn’t seen her for awhile but it was also her birthday! So she got dragged (literally) to the front of the room to dance a few songs too!

Birthdays are so fun to celebrate!!!

Big Big Love

In the photo above, all of us made heart symbols because one of our songs from last Thursday’s triple birthday class was "Big Big Love" by Michael Franti.

"We got big big big big love
Bigger than the sun comin' down on us
When it goes down now we can light it up
Cause we got big big big big love
And oh my my my my
Every little thing's gonna be alright
Throw your hands high in the air one love
Cause we got big big big big big big big big love"

During terrifying moments like hearing about the sudden attacks in Israel and worrying about families and friends from our community, sometimes there are only a few things we can do, but they are BIG things:

Give where it can make a difference.
Pray for all those who are hurting.
Love more especially when it is difficult.

Your friend,
Grace
