8 Days x 8 Minutes: Core on the Floor Challenge

January 11, 2021

January 11, 2021

Dear Friends,

What happened this week?

Between my dog's stroke last weekend, the riot at the Capitol on Wednesday, and shelter-in-place extended, I am currently consuming an ice cream Oreo pie from Silbermann's and a red velvet cupcake from Susie Cakes' that my sister and BFF Karen delivered to our house for my daughter's 6th birthday tomorrow.  Oh, and don't forget about those donuts Shel brought after class yesterday!

As much as I LOVE desserts, I also believe in balance. Our bodies, our minds, and our healthy hearts, need to be a priority. If you are already exercising regularly, hooray! Check out all our new January fitness and yoga on-demand classes, including 20-minute sessions!

If you're just getting started...

I've created a new series I call 8x8, as a friendly and non-intimidating way to re-commit to your physical health.

It's only 8 minutes, for 8 days in a row. And this first series called "Core on the Floor" is literally all exercises from a laying down position. It is something you can do in your pajamas right when you wake up or right before you go to bed.

Love.

Today, I celebrate my daughter's actual 6th birthday. She was my #1 backup dancer for the first 6 months of the pandemic, before we started dancing in-person, and I will forever look back at this time and smile remembering her by my side.

Her quirks. Her style. Her sass. Her spunk. Glasses one moment. Tutus the next. Hair extensions. Accessories. Close up facials into the camera. Oh, now you can ONLY see her face blocking the entire screen. Her goofiness. Her happiness. Her innocence. Her. 100% her.

On Saturday, she chose her 75-minute playlist for all of us to dance to, and her sister and her both danced on camera with me at the beginning and end of class. The previously-live recording will be available in the on-demand content this week!

Life.

I believe in the power of prayer. The power of positive thoughts. The power of community healing. There is magic and there are miracles.

Thank you for sending all of that magic to our little Miya this week. The outpouring of love and concern for her recovery from a stroke was exactly what she needed and I don't know how, but she is here, and she is well.

We are getting plenty of kisses and extra snuggles now. I know she was terrified. I know she knew it was touch-and-go. I know she is grateful. And my family is too.

Thank you, friends.

Hope.

As unbelievable as the events on Wednesday were with the storming of the Capitol, are you feeling the change?

I applaud Facebook and Twitter for permanently banning Trump from using social media as a tool for insurrection and spreading false information.

For the first time in 4 years, maybe, just maybe, the majority of our nation actually is united on something: what happened Wednesday was absolutely unacceptable and disrespectful.

In 10 days, we will officially have a new President and Vice-President in the White House.  Not just that, but a woman Vice-President.

Love, life, and hope: never stop believing.

Love,

Grace
