Dear Friends,
This past Saturday, Mika and Kaleo Chow hosted a Stop Drop and Dance fundraiser to help purchase music instruments for a music room at Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) in South Africa, a school that they visited this past summer with the Mark Day School delegation!
As of Saturday morning during the class, we had raised $4200, but a few more donations came in after class. Congratulations on helping them raise a final total of $4600!
Thank you to all of you who were able to contribute to their fundraiser and to the dancers that came to class wearing a variation of colors from the South African flag. Mika and Kaleo did a wonderful job sharing a few highlights from their travels, including Mika dancing with students and Kaleo building instruments with them. We also had a special experience where Mika led 3 of the dances she taught to all of us! Finally, thank you to Laika and Colin Chow for bringing donut holes for everyone to enjoy after class.

No Class Saturday!
I am excited to spend this weekend with my sister's family and my parents celebrating my dad's 80th birthday milestone!
Therefore, class will be cancelled this Saturday, August 23rd.
As many of you know, my dad has been behind-the-scenes for all my classes since the pandemic when I started teaching virtually. Not only does he take every class (including my 3-hour dance-a-thon!), but also, he has spent countless hours as my "IT" (Information Technology) expert helping me with my Zoom, my mixer, my speakers, my microphone and on and on.
I am beyond grateful to have a father that is dependable and someone I've always been able to count on, is fully present and interested during conversations and activities, and prioritizes building happy relationships with not just myself, but my husband and kids (and even dogs) too. He taught me what it feels like to be loved, and how to love others and myself too.
I am a lucky daughter.
